Welcome to Lady of Longbourn's little sitting room. 

 

If you were to visit my "business", you would see a room layered in Victorian-style furniture, fabric, books, and home decor.  Though there are many chairs and benches, they are currently covered in stacks of books about the Bible, novels by JRR Tolkien, as well as collections of Jane Austen and L.M. Montgomery.  You would quickly be invited to perch amid the piles of beautiful things waiting to be shelved or used and I would be likely to offer you chocolate. 

 

Then I would probably tell you all about why I started my little shop.  At Lady of Longbourn I sell sturdy, useful, and beautiful handmade bags and aprons.  For your home decor I want to add the inspiration of nostalgia through the sale of framed antique photos, scrapbooked in the Victorian style of their contemporaries.

To find out more about me and the things I think or the reasons I sell the things I do, please visit my blog.  I often tell my family that I was born in the wrong century, still writing (long) letters to friends and using "calling cards" as often as possible, wearing long skirts and fantastic hairstyles, it is my passion to remind the world of the more gracious and graceful eras of the past. 

 

When you do business with Lady of Longbourn, it is my aim for you to experience the same graciousness and community that dominated markets of the past ~ whether you are just looking at my site, purchasing one of my handmade or carefully selected items, or communicating after a sale.  In the old country squares, a woman would stand over a booth on market day, observing the goods offered and chatting with the merchant before she made her purchase.  That, I hope is what this site will represent. 

 

My object in making and selling items is not to break your budget or fill your home with unneeded things.  Please buy what you love, spend what you can afford, and contact me with any comments on how I can improve or expand my product inventory.

A book that challenges the popular dating philosophy.  Instead of having fun or trial-marriages, Josh Harris encourages relationships to be centered on commitment and intentionality. 

 

Boy Meets Girl by Joshua Harris

This is the continuation of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, written after Joshua Harris had experienced courtship himself with his wife, Shannon.  Similar to Quest for Love, it also includes other true stories of successful courtships, laying down practical principles for developing relationships. 

 

A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis

If you or someone you know is going through grief over a lost loved one, this book, written as a diary of C.S. Lewis' own experience with loss, is an excellent reassurance that others have been there, too.  Others have felt the same thing - and managed to continue living.
